MINERALOGICAL CHARACTERIZATION OF HEMATITE FROM ALINCI, REPUBLIC OF NORTH MACEDONIA

In this paper preliminary mineralogical characterization of hematite from Alinci is presented. Several crystals were collected for research. The straight-forward identification the studied mineral sam-ples was enabled by optical microscope, SEM-EDS, ICP-MS and XRPD methods. use these methods showed that they are very useful rapid analysis contributing important analytical information. With established investigated hematite. Hematite occur in syenites. size up to 2 cm. Crystals included small idiomorphic hypidiomorphic rutile ilmenite. Idiomorphic ilmenite corroded, relictized separated as a solid break-down solution homogeneous FeO–Fe2O mass. Twinned aggregate partially cata-clased into Fe-oxide mass also appear. Relict corroded allotriomorphic forms appear compact EDS analyses on samples show matrix contains 1.59 5.89 % Ti, whereas domains may contain 1.15 1.50% Fe.
